Planning is an essential part to any type of construction, especially to churches! Do you need more space for your church? If so, what kind of space do you need? Can existing space be utilized, or will you have to add to your building? Do you have enough land to expand? Will you need to start a new building elsewhere? These questions and others should be answered during a needs analysis or feasibility study. A feasibility study is conducted by an architect prior to any other steps. This site will help you gain insight on what you will need for your church so that the facility can help your members better serve God. These planning guidelines are intended to be general advice for evaluation of property, building space, needs and wants to assist with planning. Below is a list of questions that you should ask yourself before you begin building or expanding your facility. If you click on the question it will take you to information that will assist you in answering those questions. Tools range from worksheets, and computer feedback based on your input. May God guide you in your decision making process. What can we do other than build new facilities? How do we know when to relocate? What steps are involved in the building process? What type of committees should our church form for the new facility? What are the initial steps to build? Is the amount of land we have now sufficient, or do we need more? What type of facilities are available to build? What size building should we plan? What can we do for to plan the expansion of an existing or new building? What type of material should the building be made of? What about the land the facility will be built on? How will building codes and zoning affect the project? How do we estimate our parking? What can our church afford to build? How does our church select an Architect? What type of builder's delivery method should our church choose? I have all the information I need, and I'm ready to find a building that will fit our needs. |
