Scope and Objectives
When the term stewardship is mentioned, often the first thing that comes to mind is money. However, the biblical definition is a much broader concept, encompassing the proper use of our time and talents. In other words, stewardship involves the believer in a balanced commitment of all his or her resources to the Lord, including the most important, namely himself or herself.
Our objective is to isolate and give emphasis to the financial segment of the concept, with the specific purpose of raising dollars for your church’s building program. We suggest you emphasize this area both in written communications as well as in your teaching and preaching. Click here to return to the top of this page.

Approach to Fundraising
Historically, church leaders have had three basic approaches available to them in the area of fundraising. One was to hire a professional firm to come in and conduct such a program on the church’s behalf. There are several disadvantages to this approach, one of which is the cost. Another is the often present resistance by the congregation to having an “outsider” come in for such a personal thing as raising money.
The second option available was for church leaders to simply do the program themselves. While this approach eliminates fees for fundraising services, it may prove to be the most expensive, draining time and energy from church leaders. Also, most churches do not raise as much money with this approach.
The third solution suggested is to refer to various books and other written materials available on fundraising. This approach is good, if and only if, you can personally consult with a knowledgeable person when needed. Click here to return to the top of this page.

Enter the Church Plans for Less Program – a program that church leaders can manage themselves, using written resources, yet having professional consultation available through a number of scheduled, in-person planning sessions, and on an as-needed basis, by simply picking up the telephone. Biblical Perspective
Our prime objective in putting this program together was to develop an approach to stewardship that was based on the Word of God, and thus establish the proper mind set so that this would be a time of spiritual renewal rather than just a fundraising effort.
To accomplish this objective, we based our approach on I Chronicles 29:1-9. This passage describes David’s approach to meeting the financial needs as the Temple was being planned, and also provides insight for organizing your funding effort. We encourage you to study this passage. Our manual includes an organizational chart in the Organizational Resources Section. This chart correlates King David’s funding campaign with the organization of this program.
There are, of course, many other passages which deal with this subject. However, none provides the clearly defined organizational information found in I Chronicles passage. Please plan to saturate yourself in this and other passages which deal with the subject.
As a leader, become an ambassador for the program, and let your enthusiasm influence others in the congregation as you build support for the building program throughout the church. Above all else, keep the biblical perspective, make this program a spiritual matter, become an evangelist. Do not allow the stewardship program to become an end in itself. Make this time a spiritual renewal for yourself and your church. Click here to return to the top of this page.

Program Overview
This stewardship program is designed to run for six weeks, with a suggested focus theme for each weeks preaching emphasis. Highlights of the six weeks include a mid-program leadership luncheon, an extended period of prayer, congregational visitation, and a celebration banquet. All of this will be planned and carried out by a general chairman and four program committees.
The materials you need for making all this work smoothly is available in our manual, laid out in five handy sections. The material is designed to be “user friendly” and easily adaptable to your particular church’s method of operating.
The following is a quick tour of what is offered in our manual so you know where you will be headed in the next few weeks. There is a brief description of what you will find in each section. Click here to return to the top of this page.
